Martyrdom Day of Baba Jiwan Singh Ji (Bhai Jaita Ji)

Baba Jeevan Singh – Rangrete Guru Ke Bete Baba Jeevan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji) (13 December 1649 – 22 December 1704) Baba Jeevan Singh Ji was born to Bhai Sada Nand and Mata Premo. Born: 13 December 1649, Gaggomahal, Amritsar Martyrdom: 22 December 1704, Chamkaur Sahib, Punjab Title: Rangrete Guru Ke Bete Spouse: Raj Kaur Parents: Sada Nand, Mata Premo Contributions: When the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, went to Delhi to protect the oppressed and stand against tyranny, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Dayala Ji, and Bhai Jaita Ji were with him. On the orders of Aurangzeb, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji were subjected to severe tortures and attained martyrdom. After the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, Bhai Jaita Ji bravely carried the Guru’s sacred head through heavy security, wrapped it in a shawl, and set out for Sri Anandpur Sahib. Ignoring fearsome forests and dangers along the way, Bhai Jaita Ji reached Sri Kiratpur Sahib and sent word about bringing the sacred head. Baal Gobind Rai Ji, along with Mata Gujri Ji and the Sangat, arrived at Sri Kiratpur Sahib. The sacred head was placed in a beautifully adorned palanquin and respectfully brought to Sri Anandpur Sahib. Rangrete Guru Ke Bete: At that moment, Baal Gobind Rai Ji embraced Bhai Jaita Ji and bestowed upon him the title “Rangrete Guru Ke Bete.” After partaking of Amrit, Bhai Jaita Ji came to be known as Baba Jeevan Singh. To confront oppression and tyrants, Guru Gobind Singh Ji announced the formation of Khalsa armies and forts. For the first time, an army of ten thousand Khalsa soldiers was organized under the command of Baba Jeevan Singh, who was appointed as its commander. This great warrior and courageous hero upheld the highest and purest traditions of Sikh faith with unwavering dedication.
