How did Baba Deep Singh Ji attain martyrdom?

To avenge the defeat of Ahmed Shah Abdali, his son Taimur Shah ordered that the holy sarovar (sacred pool) of Amritsar Sahib be filled with mud. This sacrilegious act and atrocity was reported to Baba Deep Singh Ji at Talwandi Sabo by a Nihang Sikh named Bhai Bhag Singh. Upon hearing this painful news, Baba Ji’s heart filled with righteous anger. He immediately picked up his massive double-edged sword (khanda), said to weigh about 16 seer, and, taking the other Sikhs along with him, marched towards village Gohalwar (near Amritsar Sahib) where the Mughal army was positioned. Reaching there, Baba Ji challenged the Mughal forces to battle. A fierce and intense battle began. In this clash, Baba Ji came face to face with the Mughal commander Jamal Khan. Both warriors struck at each other with such force that both of their heads were severed from their bodies at nearly the same moment. Writers describe that upon seeing this, even “Death” itself seemed to laugh and say: “I have conquered countless great warriors, but today someone has arisen who has even surpassed me…” At that very moment, a unique and extraordinary event took place— one for which there is no parallel in all of recorded history. The body of Baba Deep Singh Ji moved into action. Baba Ji took his mighty khanda in his right hand, and with his left hand, he carefully placed his own severed head upon his palm, and continued fighting the enemy. Seeing this astonishing and miraculous sight, the Mughal soldiers were utterly stunned. Overcome with terror, they fled in such panic that they did not even dare look back. Finally, in November 1757, Baba Deep Singh Ji reached the parkarma (circumambulatory path) of Sri Harimandar Sahib, Amritsar, and there, offered his head as a sacrifice, fulfilling the vow he had made. To this day, Baba Ji’s martyrdom site stands gloriously within the parkarma of Amritsar Sahib, where devotees bow their heads in reverence. Waheguru Ji ❤️🙏 Waheguru Ji ❤️❤️🙏
