Despite a severe shortage of LPG cylinders caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the famous Guru Ka Langar at the Golden Temple in Amritsar continues to serve free meals without interruption. The langar, considered the world’s largest community kitchen, feeds more than one lakh devotees every day. Temple authorities said that the kitchen currently has enough LPG stock and receives regular supplies. Around 25 LPG cylinders are used daily, and additional gas cylinders are kept in reserve to ensure uninterrupted service. To prepare for emergencies, the management has also stored large quantities of firewood as a backup fuel source. Volunteers and the Sikh community remain committed to continuing the langar service, which represents the Sikh values of equality, sharing, and selfless service. Even while many restaurants and businesses are struggling due to the LPG shortage, the Golden Temple’s langar continues to operate smoothly, showing the resilience and dedication of the Sikh community.
