1984 Anti-Sikh Riots: Court Reserves Verdict in Sajjan Kumar Case

New Delhi, December 22, 2025: Former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar was produced before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday in connection with a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The case pertains to an FIR registered at Janakpuri and Vikaspuri police stations, concerning incidents of violence and killings that occurred following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984. After hearing detailed arguments from both sides, the court reserved its order and stated that the verdict will be pronounced on January 22. This case is one of several prosecutions linked to the communal violence that erupted across various parts of Delhi in 1984. The Janakpuri and Vikaspuri areas were among the worst affected, where multiple Sikh families were allegedly targeted during the riots.
