Nagar Kirtan Organized with Devotion and Enthusiasm at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Manila

Today, a grand Nagar Kirtan was organized at the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple by the Sikh sangat to celebrate the Prakash Purab (arrival anniversary) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This sacred religious procession filled the area with the melodious hymns of Gurbani, saffron Nishan Sahibs, and the spiritual aura of seva and simran. The Nagar Kirtan commenced with an Ardas. The Panj Pyare, adorned in traditional attire, led the procession from the front. In the holy presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the sangat resonated the entire area with the chanting of “Satnam Waheguru.” Throughout the route, Gurbani kirtan, shabad-katha, and naam simran filled the hearts of the devotees with humility and peace. A remarkable spirit of seva was witnessed during the Nagar Kirtan. Sevadars inspired everyone by cleaning the roads, setting an example for both young and old. Through langar seva, distribution of sweetened water, and prasad, the message of “Sarbat da Bhala” (welfare of all) reached every doorstep. Children, youth, and elders alike participated wholeheartedly, keeping the rich traditions of the Guru’s house alive through selfless service. Vehicles decorated with saffron flags and the beautifully adorned presence of the Guru added a special grandeur to the Nagar Kirtan. Local residents warmly welcomed the procession and appreciated the peaceful, service-oriented spirit of the Sikh tradition. At the conclusion, a diwan was held at the Gurdwara Sahib, where through katha and kirtan, the teachings of Guru Nanak Sahib—Naam Japna, Kirat Karni, and Vand Chakna—were reiterated. The sangat collectively offered Ardas, praying for Waheguru’s blessings upon all and for the world to be filled with love, brotherhood, and peace. Editorial Note: The Nagar Kirtan organized in Binan, Laguna was not merely a religious event, but a living symbol of humanity, selfless service, and unity—beautifully reflecting the strong faith and Gurmat values of the Sikh community residing in the Philippines.
