Do read this story - Saman and Musa.

Once, Guru Arjan Dev Ji visited a village. Every person in the village started inviting Guru Ji to their home to have prashad (a food that is a religious offering in both Hinduism and Sikhism). Guru Arjan Dev Ji decided to stay in the village for a month in order not to disappoint anyone, and the village headman made a list of all the houses. Fifteen to twenty days pass, but Guru Ji still remains in the village. One day the headman calls for a boy named Saman. Headman: "Listen Saman! According to the list I made, it's your house's turn tomorrow to serve prashad to Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The entire congregation will be eating at your house. Prepare your house for langar (community meal) and get all the materials needed." Saman: "Okay, I'll discuss it with my father." Saying this, Saman went to his house where his father, Musa, was sitting. Saman: "Father, Guru Arjan Dev Ji will be eating prashad at our house tomorrow." Musa: "This is very good news my son." Saman: "But father, there will be 35-40 Sikhs along with Guru Ji, and even more people from the congregation. We do not have enough money to provide prashad for all of them." Musa, after thinking for a while, says, "Yes, son. We're poor and we can't afford this. What will we do?" Saman eventually suggests stealing the needed goods from a village store, to which his father reluctantly agrees. That night, father and son break into the store and steal what they need. They are discovered when Saman accidentally gets stuck in the entryway and the village is alerted to the robbery. Realizing he is trapped and will be caught, Saman tells his father to chop off his head and place it by his body so that nobody can identify him as the thief. Musa is horrified, but ultimately agrees to save their honour. The next day, Musa prepares the langar and when Guru Arjan Dev Ji comes, he inquires about Saman. Musa tells Guru Ji that Saman was not feeling well. But Guru Ji, knowing the truth, asks Saman to come out. Miraculously, Saman appears, alive and well. Guru Ji reveals the events of the previous night to the congregation. Both Musa and Saman are praised for their love and devotion to their Guru – so strong that they were willing to sacrifice their own honour and life to serve him.
